 Master Plan update

tenniscourts.jpgThis week, the redevelopment of our Tennis Courts began. On Thursday 11th and Friday 12th August, our bottom car park, entrance on Cecil Road, will be closed for the concrete pour and continued construction work. Thank you in advance for your co-operation, patience and understanding of this temporary inconvenience. It is our hope that this bottom car park will re-open next Monday 15th August. This improvement project will be completed in the coming weeks. Again, I would like to acknowledge and highlight the project management of Mrs Christie Lewis who has co-ordinated and led this redevelopment. Again, thank you to you, our parent community, your generosity and positive partnerships have been fundamental in making this dream a reality. Through the helpful work of our very active and supportive Parents and Friends Association the majority of the necessary funding has been provided through a Government Grant, P&F fundraising and school fees. Every child in our school, as well as our wider community, will benefit and enjoy these soon to be Multi-Purpose Courts for many, many years to come. The final completion of these Courts, along with our Hall flooring, is continued evidence of how our Master Sporting Plan is right on track. Our next phase will begin later in Term 4, with the installation of two fully enclosed cricket nets, behind the Hall.

Next Phase of Master Plan:

furnituremasterplan.jpgCurrently I continue to work with BCE Building and Planning and our Architects to look at timelines for the refurbishment of Forrest classrooms, looking at a new drop off and pick up zone in the bottom car park, once the Tennis Courts have moved and are redeveloped and BGA application for Upper Eakin is confirmed. I am very pleased to communicate to you that I have recently developed our Master Plan for Furniture in our school. Working in partnership with teaching staff, external consultants and product companies, and reviewing and reflecting on current research of educational leaders, we have successfully developed our Master Plan for Furniture from our Prep to Year 6 classrooms. This plan reflects current research on contemporary learning spaces and furniture and encompasses health and well-being benefits including considerations around physical posture and concentration spans for our learners. The plan also reflects our Dispositions for Learning to collaborate, furniture that inspires creativity, innovation and design. I had the opportunity this week to share this dream with our current P and F Executive team. I am also currently planning and developing the Community Space up from our two new multipurpose courts. This work will be scheduled to happen in Semester 1 of 2017.
