Opening of the Jarlath Building

jarlathbldgopening.jpgOn Tuesday, our St Joseph’s community officially blessed and named the Jarlath Building, with the opening of our three additional Senior classrooms. Fr Peter led our prayer liturgy of gratitude and dedicated this building to the faith development of young children growing closer to God. This building has been named after Sr Mary Jarlath, a Franciscan sister, who was the Foundation Principal in 1938. It was a privilege to have Sr Catherine and Sr Margaret, both Franciscan sisters, with us to join in this celebration. It was an added bonus to know that Sr Margaret was actually a previous student who was educated at St Joseph’s. It was wonderful to be joined by our Government partners with the presence of Jane Prentice and Steven Miles, as well as our P&F President Andrew Keogh. Peter Stower, our Area Supervisor, on behalf of our Executive Director, Pam Betts, congratulated our community on these additional high quality educational facilities. A big “thankyou” to Marcie Lam for making our beautiful Opening and Blessing Celebration Cake and for baking 395 cup cakes for all our students to enjoy. Our Senior Choir truly shone as they led confidently our singing. Both our students and teachers are very excited about these new classrooms and contemporary furniture to support their learning. May these new classrooms be enjoyed, a hub of continued excitement for now and for many, many years to come. I am proud of what together we can achieve and thank all of you for your support, positive partnership and commitment in ensuring that learning and life at St Joseph’s is full of excitement and of course fun.
