Our Philosophy and Program
St Joseph’s Bardon OSHC provides quality Before School Care, After School Care and Vacation Care in a safe, friendly and caring environment. Our service aims to provide children with an interesting and inclusive program focussed on improving their motor skills, fitness, creativity, artistic and social skills. The OSHC is operated by Catholic Early EdCare.
Our program provides children with opportunities to explore themes in carer and self directed activities and to develop vital personal and social skills through free play with other children.
St Joseph’s OSHC has a program which is theme based. Themes run for 1 week and are chosen according to –
- Children’s interests
- Special Events or Days
- The availability of valid and worthwhile activities relevant to the theme
- Current social issues (e.g. combating childhood obesity, bullying)
- The availability of resources
Themes are chosen at the beginning of the term by the co-ordinator, staff and children, and activities are implemented which provide valuable physical, social, intellectual and nutritional outcomes for the children.
The service is also taking part in the Sports Commission Active After School Care program which runs twice a week from 3:45-4:45pm and offers a variety of free structured physical activities each term. Two activities are chosen each term for a period of 7 weeks and include gymnastics, ball skills, dance, athletics and much more.
