Catholic schools are called to develop a sense of community where all people are treated equally and included regardless of circumstance. A consistent uniform worn by all students helps students to feel part of the community and enables them to show pride and respect for their school. A high standard of dress and grooming is essential for all students at St Joseph's.

Enrolment in Prep Year
From 2017, it will be compulsory for all Queensland children to undertake full-time Prep Year, prior to commencing Year 1. The changes have been made to establish the importance of Prep as the first year of schooling.
Most parents enrol their child in Prep at the Prep-eligible age – in the year they turn five by 30 June. However; parents still retain flexibility to enrol their child in Prep the following year, in the year they turn six by 30 June, giving consideration to the child’s developmental, behavioural and emotional readiness for schooling.

The enrolment process involves the sharing of information between the family and the school so that an informed decision can be made about the child's entry into St Joseph’s Bardon.
When the application is completed by the due date, so the enrolment process can proceed. At the time of lodgement, a non-refundable $50 application fee is payable by new and existing families. An interview with the Principal or the Assistant Principal (Religious Education) may be arranged in accordance with the Enrolment Criteria. This meeting is a vital part of the information sharing process. If the enrolment application is successful, a Confirmation of Enrolment form will be issued by the school for completion. A non-refundable confirmation fee of $300 is charged to all families, including siblings, on acceptance of a place offered at St Joseph’s. This confirmation fee is made up of two components: $100 for processing the enrolment confirmation and $200 pre-payment to be offset against first term’s fees.
A Prep Parent Evening and a Prep Orientation morning in November is an opportunity for new parents/caregivers to meet other families as well as being a time to share further information about a child's entry into St Joseph’s Catholic School. Early in the first term of the following year a parent/caregiver night is held to provide an opportunity for further discussion.
